Signs used on industrial & commercial premises usually differ from signs used in retail situations in many ways..

The most obvious difference is size: shops are generally smaller in both height and area covered. Shop fascia signs are used to attract customers - signs on factories and industrial units whilst advertising the business also provide information for delivery drivers, couriers and other people specifically looking for them. Other differences include materials used, different planning regulations and methods of illumination if used.

To satisfy these needs, signs with large letters and external illumination (floodlights or troughlights) tend to be used. Aluminium cladding is usually the substrate to be installed to - this could mean strengthening is needed behind the skin. Planning may not be as strict because a lot of commercial property tends to be out of town.
